Pistons' Jalen Duren out vs. 76ers with hamstring strain, Ausar Thompson questionable New York Times (Online) Hunter Patterson The Detroit Pistons will be without Jalen Duren for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers after he sustained a right hamstring strain Friday, according to the Pistons' injury report. Ausar Thompson sustained a right ankle sprain in the win and is listed as questionable against the 76ers. It's the same ankle that kept Thompson out for multiple games last season. Duren sprained his hamstring with 6:51 left in the second quarter while attempting a routine drive past Miami Heat forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. Duren grabbed the back of his right leg before attempting the shot and immediately jogged into the tunnel with members of the medical staff, heading to the Detroit locker room. Thompson's right ankle sprain took place with 6:37 remaining in the third while attempting to track down Heat forward Andrew Wiggins for a transition block. Thompson tripped over Wiggins as both players gathered to jump, sending Thompson to the hardwood. Thompson labored on the court for a few moments before being helped to the bench and eventually taking the same trek Duren did a quarter before. The Pistons inked Thompson to a five-year, $115 million deal in September and Duren to a five-year, $200 million contract in early October . If Thompson has to miss time along with Duren, their absences could create more opportunities for Isaiah Joe, Ron Holland II, Kevin Huerter, Javonte Green, Paul Reed and Tolu Smith. Reed will almost certainly slot in at center for as long as Duren needs to rehab, as he did whenever Duren was sidelined last season. Detroit will now look to finish this trip against the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks with two of its three best players. If there's one thing the Pistons showed in Friday's win and throughout last season, depth is their most vital asset. Cade Cunningham will undoubtedly be relied on for more offensive support than in his previous two performances. He's also proven he can shoulder that responsibility.
